Not that no water needs to be changed permanently, but the water change frequency can be greatly reduced. With a mature ecosystem and low-density fish stocking, only evaporated water needs to be replenished daily, and partial small-volume water changes are required every 3–6 months, cutting the water change frequency by over 70% compared with ordinary fish tanks. Regular small water changes are still necessary for maintenance in cases of high fish density and excessive feeding.
